Art Sawatzy - Director

Art Sawatzky is the General Manager of the Peace Regional Waste Management Company (PRWMC) located near beautiful Peace River in Northern Alberta.  PRWMC is a thriving part 9 company that operates an ECO Centre, 15 recycle depots, 7 transfer stations and a very busy landfill that disposes of over 300,000 tonnes of waste annually.

After about 30 years of working in sales and service in the construction, environmental and energy industries, Art joined the Peace Regional Waste Management Company a little over 3 years ago on February 4th, 2013.

He is a General Manager with demonstrated leadership skills and is highly qualified in strategic planning, business development, sales, marketing and operations management experience.  Art is experienced in opening new markets and business lines, market analysis and strategy alignment to meet market demands. He has a proven track record in building relationships with customers, industry professionals and functional areas within an organization, thereby delivering results by fostering collaboration and teamwork. Dynamic and confident leader with solid presentation and communication skills focused on superior performance delivered through strategic action, building a customer centric organization, promoting responsible and safe operations, fostering innovation and offering differentiated solutions. Art is an active member of SWANA, Alberta CARE and Alberta Recycling.

He and his wife Julia are empty nesters that live on an acreage just outside of the town of Peace River.   In addition to acreage life, they enjoy time at their cabin along the Little Smokey River, golfing, hunting, fishing and boating.  Art also likes long road trips on his motorcycle with his friends.  He is obviously an avid outdoorsman and believes that these organizations are important to help preserve the future of these activities.
